Since its formation in 2019 the Foundation for Education Development has been dedicated to promoting a long-term vision and plan for education in this country. We provide an independent and neutral space for policy influencers from education, business, politics and beyond to shape the future

The FED’s ongoing work on sustainability in education relates to the challenges faced by the education sector by the pressures of NetZero and climate change. The FED is building agreement on the need to prepare all of our future learners in terms of addressing climate education in the curriculum, and to help our schools and colleges to create the sustainable future learning environment to deliver a positive experience of education for the long-term.

We are delighted to pursue this work in a new strategic partnership with the Darwin Group Ltd. Founded in 2006, the company is a British, family-run business and with more than five decades worth of industry experience. Darwin are a community focused organisation who are committed to ensuring building projects deliver positive change with the education sector being at the heart of Darwin’s business.

Darwin Group are a Design and Build Construction business who specialise in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) providing a turnkey service for their clients. Together the FED and the Darwin Group will be working to build the foundations for a sustainable long-term vision and plan for education in this country

Carl Ward FED Chair said, “It is so important that future generations understand the issues raised by the challenges of climate change and our drive towards NetZero. The role of education and educators in this cannot be overstated. There are numerous issues to be addressed – the development of climate education in the curriculum and healthy and environmentally friendly school and college buildings amongst others. The FED are looking towards a long-term vision and plan for education in this country. A plan which reflects the net zero world of the future. We are incredibly grateful and proud to be working in partnership with the Darwin Group to help achieve this aim and build a better understanding of the practicalities of implementing net zero practice in our education system so we can all look forward to a more sustainable future”.
